Winemaker John Clews reinvented Clos Du Val’s Chardonnay and Pinot Noir program when he joined the winery in 1999. He has carefully replanted the Carneros vineyard using new clones and new rootstocks and instituted sustainable agriculture and viticultural techniques. Clos Du Val’s Pinot Noir is rich and full-bodied, with good acidity, and typifies Clos Du Val’s trademark style of balance, elegance and complexity.
