2015 Hirondelle Cabernet Franc

by: Robert Parker

"The 2015 Cabernet Franc Hirdondelle Estate looks to be sensational, and possibly the finest wine Clos du Val has ever made. A beautiful nose of forest floor, white flowers, black raspberry and blueberries soars from the glass of this dense ruby/purple wine."

2015 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

by: Antonio Galloni

"The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is a gorgeous entry-level wine from Clos du Val. Dark, inky and voluptuous in the glass, but with plenty of structural underpinning, the 2015 is super-expressive today."

2015 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

by: Lisa Perrotti-Brown

"Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon—a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc—features notions of cassis, black cherries and plums with hints of damp earth and cigar box. Medium to full-bodied, it has appealing vibrancy and freshness in the mouth, with a chewy frame and good length."

2016 Estate Pinot Noir Rose

by: Virginie Boone

"Dark pinkish-red, this wine comes from two blocks of the producer's Carneros estate, which are harvested at lower sugar ripeness to offer a dry refreshing experience, which this wine does. This exudes weighty and broad flavors of tangy watermelon, orange and cranberry, with a satisfying grip of power on the finish."

2016 Gran Val Chardonnay

by: Lisa Perrotti-Brown

"A barrel sample, the 2016 Chardonnay Gran Val Vineyard is a little cedar-forward at the moment, giving way to a fragrant core of ripe apricots, honeydew melon and orange blossoms with hints of toasted almonds and brioche. Medium to full-bodied with a lovely oiliness to the texture, it delivers mouth-filling stone fruit and melon flavors with a lively backbone and great length."

2016 Three Graces
Hirondelle Vineyard, Stags Leap District, Napa Valley

by: Jeb Dunnuck

"The flagship is the 2016 Red Blend Three Graces, which checks in as 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot. It too is inky colored and boasts a rockingly Cabernet nose of blackcurrants, tobacco, crushed rocks, lead pencil, and graphite. It's pure, has full-bodied richness, and sweet tannins, and is a profound wine."

2015 Estate Chardonnay, Carneros, Napa Valley

"New management, farming and winemaking practices at this producer, including a focus on smaller production, are remarkably on display in this delicious white. Golden pear and crunchy apple provide an unctuous, delightfully balanced experience that's crisp in underlying acidity and subtle baking spice."

"Indigo color. Inviting aromas of fragrant black plum, vanilla bean, tarragon, jalapeno, and sweet pea blossom with a velvety, crisp, fruity medium body and a tingling, complex, long cocoa-dusted raspbery, licorice, mocha, roasted nuts and autumn leaves finish with well-integrated, medium tannins and modertate oak flavor. A nuanced red blend with lots of appeal; drink now or cellar."

2016 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Hirondelle Vineyard, Stags Leap District, Napa Valley

by: Lisa Perrotti-Brown

"Deep purple-black in color, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Hirondelle Vineyard needs a little coaxing to reveal layers of very pretty black and red currants, black cherries and wild blueberries scents with underlying hints of new leather, dried mint, aniseed and fenugreek plus a waft of black olives. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has a lot of character, harmony and depth, with the savory-accented black fruits superbly framed by ripe, grainy tannins, finishing long and refreshing."

"Citrus-driven, this wine is made from the producer's State Lane Vineyard in Yountville, and is beautifully aromatic in honeysuckle and hibiscus. Medium bodied and balanced in style, it's dry and bristling in acidity, the flavors sharply defined in grapefruit and tangerine."

2016 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Hirondelle Vineyard, Stags Leap District, Napa Valley

by: Jeb Dunnuck

"The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Hirondelle Vineyard is all Cabernet from a vineyard in the Stags Leap region. Its inky purple color is followed by a seriously good bouquet of blackcurrants, black raspberries, crushed rocks, spice, and cedarwood. It's rich, full-bodied, beautifully concentrated and deep, yet is still slightly tight and closed on the palate. Give this beauty 3-4 years of bottle age and it will keep for two decades or more. It's a brilliant bottle of Cabernet."

"Nearly opaque black garnet color. Complex aromas and flavors of black olive, rosemary focaccia, coconut crème, and milk chocolate with a slightly chewy, vibrant, dryish full body and a peppery, subtle, long finish with notes of sun dried tomato, black pepper, dark tobacco, and mace with firm tannins andmoderate oak flavor. A concentrated, powerful Cabrnet with stimulating salinity; makes a lasting impression."

"Made in a full-bodied and fleshy style, this comes from an estate vineyard long owned by the producer. Cloudy, with a distinct fresh cherry aroma, it opens with leathery tannins and pronounced oak notes before its bright, citrus-like acidity settles in."

"This stunner from Clos du Val is dazzling on the nose and delicious on the palate, exhibiting intense red cherry aroma complemented by a touch of wood spice. Tannins are supple and sweet. The exquisite balance of this wine suggests it will age nicely although we would hardly frown upon immediate consumption."

2016 Estate Cabernet Franc, Hirondelle Vineyard, Stags Leap District

by: Antonio Galloni

"The 2016 Cabernet Franc Hirondelle Estate Vineyard is a big step up from the 2015. Big, powerful and explosive in the glass, the 2016 exudes character from the very first taste. It is also more in line with the other wines stylistically than the 2015 is. Inky dark fruit and soaring aromatics, along with plenty of supporting structure, make for a wine that is bursting at the seams with both potential and character. This is an eye-opening wine from Clos du Val."

"The 2016 Red Blend Three Graces is stellar. Rich and unctuous, the Three Graces also has terrific freshness and plenty of structure to play off its more extroverted learnings. Dark red cherry, plum, espresso, bittersweet chocolate, rose petal and spice build as this racy, potent wine shows off its flamboyant yet polished personality. Dollops of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot round out the blend."
